Girls, if your future selves could impart bits of wisdom on navigating the land mine that is teenage relationships, they might go something like this: (1) There is no salve for first heartbreak, but there is something satisfying when said heartbreaker finds you on Facebook a decade later and you mistake his or her profile pic for a Faces of Meth campaign; (2) the slightly smaller or larger features that you fret over in the mirror will someday drive a lover wild with desire; (3) while high school is a more concentrated microcosm of society, it is by no means the end-all. Start the pathway to that future happy self as Outlet presents RelationShifts on Saturday at Pride Center at Equality Park (2040 N. Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors). The free conference, presented by the Aqua Foundation for Women, is geared toward LGBT girls age 14 and up and will focus on healthy relationships, dating violence, and body image with speakers Dr. Marilyn Volker, an educator with more than 37 years of experience; and dance therapist Susan Kleinman. The conference starts at 9:30 a.m. Register to attend at outlet4youngwomen.com.
