The "50 Shades of Insert-Reference-to-Whatever" has officially jumped the shark. Want to know the final nail in that innuendo's coffin? Its use in a fundraising event for a children's charity. Unfortunate naming aside, the 50 Shades of Giving luncheon on Friday is designed to raise money for the Children's Opportunity Group. This close-knit organization -- it keeps the membership to 50 women -- is focused on supporting the health, education, and welfare of Broward's less-fortunate kids. This annual event includes a silent auction and raffle, plus a fashion presentation coordinated by the Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills. Professional models will show off fashions by Kate Spade, Prada, Tory Burch, and Valentino, among others. 50 Shades of Giving is Friday at the W Fort Lauderdale, located at 401 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. A champagne reception begins at 11 a.m., and the luncheon starts at noon. Tickets cost $75 to $125. Email [email protected], or visit childrensopportunitygroup.org.
