The good news is that the Florida Marlins took down the league-leading Dodgers a few weeks ago. The bad news is that the Nationals, the worst team in the majors, swept the Fish soon after. The good news is, the Marlins were able to bounce back and sweep the defending World Series champion Phillies. The bad news is, they’re still behind in the NL east race. The good news is, pitcher Josh Johnson is a stud. The bad news is, ESPN jinxed his bid for a no-hitter a few weeks back by announcing he had a no-hitter in progress.

But the real good news is that the Marlins are on the cusp of a playoff berth. And with continued timely hitting, solid pitching and all around gutsy play, they just might make it. Florida takes on the San Diego Padres Sunday at Land Shark Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens). First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. Tickets start at $12.
