Does the idea of sweaty women making full contact with one another turn you on? If so, then here’s a tip: Keep it to yourself. Because if the Gold Coast Derby Grrls find out you’re sexually objectifying them, they might put you in a hurt locker. Carnivorous Licks and Nauti-Seacups #7 might sound a little like stripper names, but we’d like to see you say that to their faces — and live. If you’re feeling brave, you’ll get your chance at the upcoming “Fresh Meat Tryouts/Orientation” on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Gold Coast Skating Rink (2604 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale) and again on February 20. While they’re looking for grrls with some skating experience, if you’ve got an Amazonian drive to compete, the Grrls are willing teach you all you need to know: They only ask that you have up-to-date medical insurance. Team members have to supply their own equipment, but Fresh Meat can use loaner gear for tryouts. And if your skating skills just aren’t up to par — or if, unlike Ms. Licks, your favorite colors are not black and purple — you can still be part of the roller derby team: NSOs, or nonskating officials, run the scoreboard, track points and penalties, assist refs, and police the penalty box. (We wish you luck with that last one.) Fresh Meat become official members February 13, after the Grrls’ next match against the Charlotte Rollergirls February 12 at the War Memorial Auditorium.
