Halloween Is So Not Lame
Are you self-conscious about dressing up for Halloween? Do you secretly love it but worry that your friends think it's ridiculous? If so, first of all, get new friends, because they sound really lame. Second, register to enter the Third Annual Scary Rock Star Costume Contest on Friday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Davie). Now you're dressing up for cash prizes, more than $25,000 altogether. You can win $1,000 for the best music, pop culture/entertainment; superhero; scary spooktacular; or miscellaneous categories. Each category will have first-, second-, and third-place winners. You could also take home the $4,000 best overall costume prize. Registration is free, but each category is limited, so you should register early. Check-in begins at 7 p.m. the day of the contest. And if you're still feeling self-conscious about dressing up, stop already. Contestants must be at least 21 to enter, so there's no chance you'll be the only grownup onstage surrounded by little Hannah Montanas. Contestants will be judged on creativity, originality, and appearance and are asked to use "good taste" -- whatever that is. Visit the website for the complete list of rules and requirements, and to register, visit seminoleparadise.com/scaryrockstars. And maybe you'll even make some new friends who won't be so lame.
