Hard Knock Night
Hard Rock hosts big-time stars
Warrior's Boxing Promotions and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) are at it again, and this time they've teamed up with Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions to offer an incredible night of world-class boxing action. The Hard Rock Rumble boasts eight topnotch bouts, headlined by a ten-round main event featuring Nigerian Kingsley "Sharp Knuckles" Ikeke (20-1, 10 KOs), the current NABF, NABO, and NABA middleweight title holder. The evening also stars Mexican warrior Rene Arostegui (23-4, 20 KOs), who has won 10 of his fights with first-round knockouts. The cofeature is a 12-round heavyweight championship bout pitting contender Elieser Castillo (26-4-2, 14 KOs, pictured) against NABF title holder Kendrick Releford (10-4-1, 5 KOs). Both of these featured fights will be simulcast live on HBO Latino's hit series Oscar de la Hoya Presents Boxeo de Oro. Also included on the evening's card is a NABO cruiserweight title bout featuring Dale Brown (31-3-1, 20 KOs) and Jermell Barnes (16-6, 4 KOs). The remaining fights on the night's docket include two junior welterweight tilts, a light heavyweight match, and a junior middleweight fight. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first fight starts at 7. Tickets range from $30 to $100. Call 954-523-3309. -- Russ Evans
Hello, broken bones!
The mountain bikers in Club Mud say it best when they say, "Time to celebrate the return of Standard Time -- when the snowbirds return, the days are cruelly shortened, and the beautiful weather taunts us as we leave work in the dark." Naturally, there is only one way for Club Mud to celebrate this not-so-joyous occasion. Put on your night gear and join them as they "collectively give the finger to Standard Time." Wear a Halloween costume and you'll receive some candy (left over from last Halloween). Get there by 8 p.m. to sign releases, and so on. The ride starts promptly at 8:30. This "Halloweenish Night Ride" takes place at Quiet Waters Park (401 S. Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach). Join Club Mud by signing up at www.clubmud.com or at the event. Cost: $10. -- Deirdra Funcheon
