With the proliferation of chain coffee franchise Starbucks over the past decade, it’s hard not to root for the underdog — the independent mom-and-pop coffee shop. Independent though it may be, West Palm Beach’s Harold’s Coffee Lounge is hardly an underdog, considering this iced-coffee innovator was the first to bring cold-filtered, ice-brewed coffee to the Palm Beaches (and some say even to the state of Florida). Known as “Kyoto” style, the 14-hour process of slow-brewing coffee with ice-cold water produces Harold’s signature drink. Having perfected the art of iced coffee, Harold’s is now considered a Northwood Village institution. So a proper shebang, replete with live art, bands, DJs, food trucks, and vendors, will take place this Saturday for the fourth-anniversary celebration of this local stalwart. Tasteless Buds, Seizure Machine, Dr. Skitzo, and other acts will perform live on Harold’s newly revamped back patio while the gals from Dub City Derby Girls greet attendees and savory treats from Poutine Dog Café will be offered for sampling.
Celebrate Harold’s fourth anniversary this Saturday starting at 1 p.m. at Harold’s Coffee Lounge, located at 509 Northwood Road in West Palm Beach. Admission is free. Visit haroldscoffee.com, or call 561-833-6366.
