Ed McMahon is coming! Too bad it doesnt necessarily mean that youve won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, or Star Search. A classic member of the so-called greatest generation, McMahon sold vegetable slicers on the New Jersey board walk as a teenager, flew combat missions as a fighter pilot during World War II, and went on to make a fortune in Hollywood both as a television personality and as a landlord before launching his own line of vodka. Not too shabby for a guy whose bread-and-butter gig was introducing someone else for 30 years.
Now 82, McMahon reminisces during Memories of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (801 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach). The show, which includes a question-and-answer portion, starts at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $15 to $85. Call 561-651-4320, or visit www.kravis.org.
