In hurricane season, the American Red Cross and you are the tightest BFFs. If need be, they bring you bottled water, surprisingly “OK-tasting” emergency meal packs, lend an ear for your bitch session about your blowhard neighbors’ generator, and, if your story is extra compelling, maybe you can even count on a hug. But you’re a high fashion lass and sometimes you need more than the bare essentials to weather a storm. Remember last time when, without any voltage for your Supersolano Blow-Dryer, your up-do went way south in the dank humidity?

Like a good friend, the people of the American Red Cross are listening to you. They are coming through once again with the first ever American Red Cross Hair-A-Cane, when the scissor-wielding team from Salon Santiago sets up shop at the Veterans Park Gazebo (802 NE First St., Delray Beach) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and gives trendy cuts and styles. All you have to do for a little friendly payback is donate some bucks to a worthy cause. All funds raised will go to the American Red Cross Palm Beach Area Chapter. Call 561-833-7711, or visit www.redcross-pbc.org.
