Letting Fun Out of the Bottle
To an outsider reliant on headlines alone, Pompano Beach may be that place on the map where state officials recently raided three convenience stores for Florida Lottery fraud or the spot where a 34-year-old grandma left her kids alone for the day to gamble at the casino. But if you dig a little deeper past the Florida Man tweets, you'd see Pompano Beach has been going through a healthy phase of redevelopment and growth, thanks to an active Community Redevelopment Agency. With the CRA's help, Pompano Beach's northwestern and eastern sides are quickly becoming destinations for farmers' markets, contemporary arts centers, concerts, and events like tonight's East Village Uncorked. The ongoing art and wine walk takes revelers through the pedestrian-friendly Harbor Village Shops to peruse local art and sip on complimentary wine selections that feature new and regional picks each month. Grab a Discovery Tour Guide at the CRA booth to learn more about the wines and register for prizes and giveaways. East Village Uncorked goes from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harbor Village Shoppes (2600-2800 E. Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano Beach). Visit Facebook.com/PompanoBeachCRA. Admission is free.
