Light 'Em Up for Cheech and Chong
The sounds of bongs, bubblers, joints, and vaporizers were heard 'round the world as stoners celebrated the announcement of Cheech and Chong reuniting for a new comedy tour. The news broke at the world-famous Troubadour in Los Angeles, where the two were discovered spreading their hippie hilarity to the masses oh so many years ago (which, completely by coincidence, happened to be around the same time there was a sales boom in the brownie mix industry). Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have had sporadic guest roles in various movies and on TV shows. Cheech can be seen dying in lots of amusing, horrible ways in several Robert Rodriguez films, most recently Machete, although he lived through that one. And Chong was everyone's dream boss on That '70s Show. But their joint paper burns brightest when they are lighting it together. So after nine comedy albums, several Grammy nominations, and classic hit films, they're going on the road again.
Their stop in South Florida will be a funny and philanthropic one. The Broward House presents Cheech & Chong, a Special Benefit Engagement, at Hard Rock Live this Sunday at 7 p.m. Broward House is South Florida's oldest and largest HIV/AIDS Community Service organization, and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Broward House. The Hard Rock Live is located at 1 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Tickets cost $49 to $104, and additional fees may apply. Visit hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com, or call 954-522-4749.
