Local Yokels Armed With Brushes
Theres been a lot of emphasis on consuming locally lately. We do it for everything from produce to the news, so if ya think about it, theres no reason we shouldnt also include local art. Who better to give us perspective on a South Florida encounter than the artiste who exists only to interpret the quirky scenery they find themselves in? In On the Home Front at Lèche-Vitrines (3038 North Federal Highway, Building F, second floor, Fort Lauderdale), thats what youll find. Friday night is the unveiling of these new works, for which painters exercised their civic duties by creating artistic renderings of their communities. Honoring the nomadic nature of SoFla inhabitants, the artists presenting are originally from South Africa (Paul Cumes) and Chile (Jeannette Ulrich) but both now call Florida home. Stop by tonight for a free wine and cheese opening party, and meet the artists from 6 to 9 p.m. Visit www.lechevitrinesart.com.
