It’s official. The holiday buildup has begun. And, in America at least, that means only one thing. Shopping. For better or worse, Americans show their love and holiday cheer through mass consumerism. It’s our way. It’s not that other things aren’t important; we just like stuff. Expensive stuff. Cheap stuff. Big stuff. Small stuff. This would seem to be the motivation behind the fourth “Small Stuff” exhibit at the Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery above Tate’s Comics. As opposed to more traditional art shows where the items remain on display even after they’re purchased, Small Stuff is a “cash and carry” show. You buy it, you take it, and it should satisfy our need to consume, magnified as it is by holiday shopping craze. And hey, if you’re going to show the people you care about your love by buying them stuff, then it might as well be one-of-a-kind stuff. Bear and Bird Gallery is located at 4566 N. University Drive in Sunrise. Call 954-748-0181, or visit bearandbird.com.
Sun., Nov. 21, 1 p.m.; Mondays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 21. Continues through Jan. 8, 2010
