Mallvertising for a Good Cause

The massive, glorious mall on Sunrise Boulevard is an institution of panache. Even though New Times might enter the Coral Ridge Mall more, it’s hard to argue for the underdog in terms of which venue is the greater beast of fashion: The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale is Broward County’s stylish mall. And this will be proved once again when the Galleria hosts “Men of Style Fashion Night.” Nine models from local charities will strut the runway, all donning the fall/winter wears of Dillard’s. The night will include food, a bar, and live music. Fashionista attendees will receive a “Passport of Savings,” and well, if they cash in all the perks, they could end up saving more than the cost of the ticket to this event, which is $40 in advance and $50 inside the mall. Your savings passport features 20 percent off all purchases at Macy’s and Dillard’s, plus discounts from Banana Republic and Ann Taylor, a free order of Truluck’s Hot and Crunchy Shrimp, free Season’s 52 flatbread with a dinner entrée, among so many other discounts.

Your benevolent models are Davone Bess from HANDY, Richard French from ArtServe, David Guzman from Women in Distress of Broward County, Oscar Llorente from Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Bill Lutes from Deliver the Dream, Brett Rose from Make-a-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida, Marc Schoenfeld from Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre, Shea Smith from United Way of Broward County, Tom Triozzi from Junior Achievement of South Florida, and last but not least charitable, Randall Vitale from Leadership Broward Foundation. Your special guest presenter will be Christina Loren from the CBS4 Morning Team. The fashion show is from 6 to 9 p.m. at Galleria Mall (2414 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Buy tickets at guest services at the Galleria or through any of the participating charities, who receive all the dough. Visit, or call 954-564-1036.
