Memphis' sizzling, romping, roaring '50s underground dance clubs come to life this week at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts' Au-Rene Theater. Sultry 2010 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Memphis swings through Fort Lauderdale with its scintillating choreography and hip-swaying rock 'n' roll. Inspired by true events, Memphis tells the love tale between a popular disc jockey and a rising club singer ready to make her mark. Together this interracial couple touches on aspects of race and tolerance set to rock music and big laughs. Catch all the Memphis fun at 8 p.m. Friday at the Au-Rene Theater, located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The show runs through Sunday. Tickets cost $34.50 to $84.50.
