Moore to Love
Michael Moore is polarizing enough that as soon as his name is mentioned in the same sentence with An Evening With and at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, you probably already know whether youll go. You may think hes unfairly jeered by conservatives: Fox News once famously announced to protesters in Manhattan via its outdoor news crawl that the Michael Moore Fan Club meets Thursday at a phone booth at Sixth Avenue and 50th Street. But if youre pissing off Fox and can claim four of the top ten grossing documentaries in American history, as well as a fifth, Roger & Me, thats a bona fide classic then youre doing something right. For all of Moores tin-eared browbeating (dont you wish hed try to convert just one measly Republican?), hes surely the most successful raconteur working in cinema today, even if, as a major source of red meat for the political left, hes occasionally full of bull. For 90 minutes, hell present clips and commentary and take audience questions beginning Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso (1314 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Admissions $15 ($10 for FLIFF members) or $30 for VIP floor seats. For more information and tickets, call 954-525-3456, or visit fliff.com.
