Move With Purpose
Running for a good cause makes us feel great, but its impact on participants depends on whether they have been affected by the focus of the fundraiser. Addressing the likelihood of a child having a congenital heart problem, Tour de Broward is being sponsored by the Cardiac Center at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital to raise money for these patients, their families, and many others who may need a heart transplant. Keeping in line with the mission of saving lives and providing the extensive care required to support children with birth defects, donations to the cardiac center will be used toward purchasing high-tech equipment, providing emergency assistance to affected families, and supporting special events that signify milestones during the recovery process. Open to all who have either been touched by this unfortunate condition, know someone who has, or those who enjoy giving back to their community, the event invites participants to walk, run, or ride Sunday at Miramar Regional Park, located at 16801 Miramar Parkway in Miramar. The fundraiser will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featured events include a 100K ride, 50K ride, 5K timed run, 3K family walk, power play, and kid zone.
