Most of us can’t fathom staring at a blank canvas, trying to visually express our innermost feelings using paints, pencils, acrylics or any combination of mediums. It must be nerve-wracking putting your soul out there for all to see, but the artists featured at “Thirteen/08”, a group exhibit showing at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale (One E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale), have not only overcome said crippling fear, but many have also branched out beyond the canvas. Take Diane Arrieta for example: She created a piece called I’m Loving It by printing a woman on cheeseburger wrappers. Carol Prusa does neat things with silverpoint and fiber optics, Wendy Wischer uses mirrored tiles on her mixed media work, and Marie Mennes even busts out some embroidery. Check out these artists and more when “Thirteen/08” shows through October 6. Admission costs $5 for Adults. Call 954-525-5500, or visit www.moafl.org.
