Rockabilly isnt hard to spot. If you see a woman covered in 50s-pinup-style tattoos; if you see a man with greased-back hair and a leather jacket who looks as if hes pining for a girl named Sandy; if you see a pinstriped, souped-up, chrome-enhanced car so cherry that James Dean himself would have been proud to drive it, then you have had a Rockabilly encounter.
The monthly self-described lowbrow group art show at Howleys Restaurant is keeping up with this rockabilly theme with its latest event, Hot Hot Rods & Hot Chicks, featuring local artists with every kind of Kustom Kulture-esque art you could hope for, from indie crafts to tattoo art. The free art show runs from 8 to 11 p.m. Tuesday at Howleys, located at 4700 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. Call 561-833-5691, or visit withasideof-art.blogspot.com.
