Next time you hear someone complain about South Florida's out-of-control real estate prices, nightmare traffic jams, or troublesome hurricanes, consider Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The most exciting thing they have is a large rodent who comes out of a hole, pokes around for a little bit, and then goes back inside. Miami, on the other hand, is home to its very own reclusive, rock ´n roll groundhog the Crumbs. There was a time when the bluesy punk band was all over South Florida, playing live, recording, and inspiring many a younger local band. But after 13-plus years, five albums (and a new one in the works), grueling national tours, and an incalculable number of gigs, the Crumbs no longer have to suffer the indignity of the dreaded Monday night gig at some empty bar in the middle of nowhere. If any band has earned the right to play where and when and however often it damn well pleases, it's the Crumbs. The Crumbs come out of hiding this Saturday at I/O Lounge (30 NE 14th St., Miami). Tickets cost $10 to $12. Call 305-358-8007, or visit www.thegimmicks.com.
