Miami folkie duo Raffa and Rainers sound possesses the calm beauty of a flower thats just emerged in the morning dew: uncluttered, naturally charming, and potentially moving. The sweet Raffa Jo Harris floats her jazzy vocals over understated guitars (her own and her partner Rainer Davies). The quirky melodies sound like theyd befit the conclusion of a Wes Anderson film (when the messiness has been cleaned up and the emotional bruises are healing). The groups lyrics traverse the moors of hopeful unlove as in Preventative Heartache, love potential as in Black Night, or disappearing from sight as in Highheeled Shoes. The duo, which was featured in a 2008 New York Times article about Miamis burgeoning music scene, performed a couple shows in Brooklyn, NY, this month, and has returned home for a show Saturday at Labyrinth Café at the Unitarian Universalist Church (3970 N.W. 21st Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Admission is $12. Visit myspace.com/raffaandrainer, or call 954-484-6734.
