Rescue Me from Boredom
Way back in the early '90s, when MTV still actually played music, the network ran a series of sepia-toned, faux-infomercials featuring a fast-talking, wise-cracking, chain-smoking Beantown escapee named Denis Leary.
Leary was pissed and he wanted you to know it - pissed about REM and the Save the World types; about David Duke and the rest of America's racists; about those who don't vote but still moan over things. Leary was even pissed about MTV and the bands it'd be praising during that year's Video Music Awards - which he was hosting! The clips were quick, they were keen, and they made our man a monster.
Fast-forward almost 20 years, and Leary's a veteran of numerous films, stand-up specials, and is the star of the award-winning Rescue Me. To celebrate the show's third season, Leary's gone back out on the road, this time with some of the cast in tow. And you can bet your ass that he won't be apologizing for anything. So if you're the type to say "I'm sorry," perhaps it's best you stay home.
The Rescue Me Comedy Tour featuring Denis Leary hits Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Hard Rock Live, situated at 1 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Call 954-327-7625, or log on to hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com.
