Ridin’ Dirty for Charity
Going to spin class has become one of the most popular fitness activities a gym can offer. Whether you treat spin as a way to tone your body, meet up with your friends, or as a spectator sport like my father does, it’s a great way to get fit. It’s also a great way to raise money for charity. The Marine Industry Cares Foundation is hosting the fifth-annual Spin-A-Thon on Friday. Proceeds go to Kids in Distress (KID) as well as the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC). So if you don’t go it’s like you’re saying you hate children.
If you do go, you can register as a group ($300) or join a team ($20 per rider online, $30 at the door). Registration begins at noon and includes healthy food and drinks, event t-shirt, and goody bag. The event runs from 1 to 7 pm. There is also a networking even from 6 to 9pm. The Spin-A-Thon is takes place in Esplanade Park, at 400 SW Second St. in Fort Lauderdale. Visit 2013spinathon.blacktie-athon.com.
