Roger Daltreys Rock Opera
Roger Daltrey is reviving a rock opera from his days as lead singer of the Who. Tommy is the epic tale of a deaf, dumb, and blind boy who becomes the leader of a messianic movement you know, sort of like the story of Glenn Beck but not evil. The album by the same name (20 million sold) practically invented the rock opera and spawned a feature film, actual opera and orchestral performances, and a stage version. With his solo band and with the blessing of Pete Townshend, Daltrey is performing Tommy in its entirety for the first time in North America since 1989. His tour started in Britain to excellent reviews. Its first stop in the U.S. is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood) at the complexs 5,500-seat indoor arena.
The Whos Tommy happens on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $105, $85, $65, and $45. Call 800-937-0010, or visit seminolehardrockhollywood.com.
