Save the Tardis!

Being a small-business owner is never easy. That goes double for restaurant owners and triple for food truck operators. Not only might your restaurant fail but it could literally run off the road. Robb Muise of Friar Tuck’s knows all about the trials and tribulations of food truck ownership. He’s lost two trucks to highway hazards in as many years; most recently, his pub-looking trailer fell off the back of a AAA tow truck, tumbling to its demise. Luckily, he’s a “stubborn prick from Boston,” so he wasted no time mourning and got right back to rebuilding. There’s an Indigogo page where hungry benefactors can donate now to receive free food later, and Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park has stepped in to help raise funds. Thursday from 5 to 11:30 p.m., “Tuck Everlasting” will raise funds toward the estimated $50,000 to $100,000 needed to build a new “Tardis” — as the British-themed Friar Tuck’s trailer is known. Fellow mobile eatery Crazydilla is donating its truck for the evening so Muise can serve Tuck Tuck burgers and Jurassic Pork sandwiches. Funky Buddha will be tapping a special mystery brew to be announced on Facebook. All proceeds from the beer sales will go to the “Save the Tardis” fund.
