Scheck It Out
Rarely is one person a worthy actor and comedian. It's like rappers and athletes: It's one or the other. And then there is Angel Salazar. Before there was Carlos Mencia and Gabriel Iglesias, he was on a stage with a mic. But the Cuban-American comedian has way more than just a set of jokes up his sleeve. The dude was in Scarface. Seriously. And he is still going strong with a couple of movies in the works. For one night only, South Florida has the chance to see a piece of the beloved Scarface come to life, with a smile. Salazar is known for physical comedy, race-related jokes (who isn't?), and his catch phrase "Scheck it out." Chances are it has been a lifelong dream of yours to have a catch phrase, and this guy is living it out. Salazar doesn't get on the road much anymore, so this viewing is essential if you have ever said "Say hello to my little friend." And no, that cannot be your catch phrase. It's already taken. Salazar will perform two shows on Saturday at 7:30 and 10 p.m. at the Catskills Comedy Club, located at 840 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Oakland Park. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door, plus a two-drink minimum. Visit thecatskillscomedyclub.org, or call 954-600-5816.
Sat., Oct. 12, 7:30 & 10 p.m., 2013
