The worlds of pop culture, anime, and cosplay collide at this weekend’s Shock Pop Comic Con in Fort Lauderdale, offering attendees the rare opportunity to rub elbows with hobbits, superheroes, Pokémon, Freddy Krueger, and Cory Feldman. Yes, you read right: Cory Feldman, ’80s wunderkind and star of such classics as the Lost Boys, Gremlins, and Goonies is one of the many celebrities who will be making guest appearances throughout the weekend. Feldman is not the only star from the ’80s who will be in attendance, as Ralph Macchio (known for his role as Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid trilogy) and the real-life Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) will be available for photo ops. They will be joined by the Mistress of the Dark, Elvira (Cassandra Peterson); Danny Trejo, known for the Quentin Tarantino-written role of Machete; and a host of other celebrities throughout the weekend. Expect dozens of cosplay and costuming events as well. The Shock Pop Comic Con is from 2 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Broward County Convention Center, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $30 each for Friday and Saturday and $25 for Sunday, or $60 for a weekend pass. Visit shockpopcomiccon.com, or call 800-840-9731.
