If the Sirens in Homer's Odyssey appeal to you more than Ulysses himself, then this event might be right up your alley. Sirens & Strings: An Acou-chix Experience is a musical show featuring veteran and up-and-coming female acoustic musical acts. But it's important to remember the old saying, "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing about the musical stylings of vaginas." (I think that was Socrates, no?). So don't expect solely Lilith Fair guidelines to apply to these gals; their tastes vary widely from folk to R&B, jazz to pop, cabaret to world music. Come celebrate the first anniversary of Sirens & Strings at 8 p.m. Saturday at Stage 84. Appearing will be Sarah Walker, Serena Stroppa, Sophie Sputnik, Amy Shaw, Hissy K, and Rossella Lamendola, with special guests Kristen Spencer and Dana DellaCamera; poetry by Stephanie "Quills" Rodriguez; and comedy by Rhett Thompson. Stage 84 Music Cafe & Beer Bar is located at 9118 W. State Road 84 in Davie. Admission is free for ages 21 and up; under 21, cover is $5. Call 954-673-5124, or visit conundrumstages.net.
