So Much Fun, It's Scary
There is certainly no shortage of ghoulishly themed entertainment in October, but the Coconut Creek Casino (5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek) is making a seriously frightening attempt to scare you into deading it up there all month long. In addition to a different harrowing Halloween event every weekend, the Creek's "Haunting October" will be serving terrifyingly famous celebrities you've been dying to meet. Friday and Saturday is "Phantom Illusions Weekend." Friday, see "Bizarre Magic" with illusionist Brian Bushwood at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, meet real-life poltergeist purger Ryan Buel of A&E's ghost-hunting reality show, Paranormal State, from 7 to 9 p.m. Vampish vixen Pam (Kristen Bauer) and former fang-banger Hoyt (Jim Parrack) will be greeting bloodthirsty fans from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 15, during "Classic Monster Weekend." Next up is the "Zombie Apocalypse" on October 21 and 22. That Saturday, get survivor tips from AMC's Walking Dead star Steven Yeun and special-effects artist Toby Sells from 7 to 9 p.m. And the final weekend, "Creek Creature Weekend," try your luck in the costume competition at 11 p.m. Saturday, October 29. Contest registration is 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Every weekend, the Krypt Keeper himself -- or at least his freaky voice, actor John Kassir -- will bring his signature spine-tingling cackle as MC.
