What do football and the future have in common? Much more than just an excuse to shove guacamole in your face. Syd Kitson used to be in the NFL, putting in years with the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. Now, he's taking one step to change the world. Kitson and his partners are in the process of building Babcock Ranch, AKA "Southwest Florida's City of Tomorrow."
Babcock Ranch has high hopes. The idea is to be the nation's most sustainable city. With how difficult it can be to find a recycling bin every time you really need it, it's shocking that a city in Florida is stepping up to take the reins. The clean, renewable, and solar energy used in this new community will mean not only a better environment but a new take on "love thy neighbor." Those interested should share the same feelings toward doing everything he or she can for our environment. Think you can handle the sustainable lifestyle? Kitson will host a lecture and chat about the why and how of Babcock. Show up to be a part of the future.
The Conservation Leadership Lecture featuring Syd Kitson is Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palm Beach Zoo, located at 1301 Summit Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Admission to the zoo is $18.95 for adults. Call 561-533-0887, ext. 285, or visit palmbeachzoo.org.
