This isn't L.A., and big-name screenwriters aren't under every street lamp smoking cigarettes while clad in all-black ensembles. But that doesn't mean BroCo doesn't have its own reservoir of untapped film talent waiting to be released to the public. The Adjusted Lens series welcomes the community to Broward College's South Campus for showings of independent films and documentaries created by minority filmmakers or about minority communities. This week, the focus will be on six short films whose subjects range from the tent camps in Haiti to a look back on the Underground Railroad here in Spanish Florida. None of the films exceeds 30 minutes, and each will be followed by a question-and-answer session by some of the filmmakers themselves. There will be showings at 12:30 and 8 p.m. The Performing Cultural Arts Theatre on Broward College's South Campus is located at 7200 Pines Blvd. in Pembroke Pines. Free admission. Visit broward.edu.
