Taking it Off
If you're alive and breathing, you probably enjoy getting out of the house on your nights off from work; however, going out on a Saturday night usually includes spending copious amounts of money with nothing to show for it in the end -- plus a terrible headache the following morning, of course. If you're looking to feel slightly better about your extensive drinking habits, Get Bald at Mickey Byrne's Irish Pub presents a charitable evening option. To help kids suffering from cancer, the pub is teaming up with St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research.
To bring attention to the cause, individuals and teams will be bringing in the donations for shaving their heads. The foundation is asking for more participation whether it's hitting the razor, volunteering, or donating. In addition to the head-shaving, a silent auction and raffle will auction off items ranging from a Jason Taylor-autographed helmet and signed Dwyane Wade jersey to VIP experiences at Wynwood Brewery, the Funky Buddha, and Due South to gold outings. WPLG-TV's morning meteorologist Julie Durda and reporter Todd Tongen are hosting the event. It is a family-friendly affair with plenty of activities for the kids. The fun takes place Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. Mickey
