Talk Ain’t Cheap

When’s the last time you had an inspiring conversation that made you think? (No, the one where you debated the similarities between Optimus Prime and Jesus doesn’t count.) Well, according to the folks at the Palm Beach Cultural Council, a little in-depth discussion is an important part of growing a culturally active community; the only trick is getting that initial dialogue flowing. To that end, the PBCC has put together Culture & Cocktails: a series of themed panel events that will pair the mouths of cultural experts with the ears of hungry audiences.

The six-part series takes place at Café Boulud (301 Australian Ave., Palm Beach) once a month until April, with the discussion meandering through the subjects of dance, theatre, cuisine, and photography. Monday night’s entry is called Food Dish: A Conversation About Dining with Culture, so you can expect a hearty debate on vittles courtesy of some of the top gastronomes in these here parts. Zach Bell and Jennifer Reed, each Chefs at Boulud, Ken Lyon of Café 1451 at the Norton Museum, and Victoria Amory, the Food & Entertainment columnist for the Palm Beach Daily News, will talk shop about everything from menu planning to what chefs look for in killer grub. Boulud will also serve up a batch of unique hors' d'oeuvres cooked up especially for the event – the chefs have promised these adventurous eats will be worth of consumption by foodies. Cultural Council members who donate $150 or more get in free; everyone else pays $30 per session. Attendees who dine at Boulud afterwards will also receive 20 percent off their bill – bonus! The talks begin at 5 p.m. sharp. R.S.V.P. by calling 561-471-2901, or visit for more info.
Second Monday of every month, 5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 10. Continues through April 30, 2007
