That’s So Boss

If you couldn’t afford the $100 price tag for floor seats the last time Bruce Springsteen came around back in September, you can catch about 170 minutes of him on the big screen at Cinema Paradiso on Friday or Saturday, when the indie theater plays London Calling: Live in Hyde Park. The concert film captures a 2009 show, described by the Times of London as “epic” and a “revved-up three-hour power drive through Springsteen’s America” performed in front of about 50,000 fans at the Hard Rock Calling Festival. He rocks all the classics: “Born to Run,” “Glory Days,” and “Dancing in the Dark.” But the show also includes rare covers such as the Young Rascals “Good Lovin’ ” and concert opener the Clash’s “London Calling.”

If you’ve never seen the Boss, his concerts can sometimes seem like endurance tests with three hours of constant entertainment that adds up to a workout. We don’t know how Springsteen manages to rock the stage so consistently into his 60s. But if you’d like to avoid aching feet, use your paycheck more wisely, and want to catch him from the comfort of cozy theater seats, tickets to the show at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale) cost $9. Showtimes are Friday at 10 p.m. and Saturday at 8:15 p.m. Call 954-760-9898, or visit
