The Great Outdoors
Chances are you get up in the morning, run from the front door to your car, then from the car straight to the office, and back again. Maybe, in that process, you're getting about ten minutes of outdoor time. Face it: Most of our lives are spent indoors, probably under fluorescent lights, in a cubicle. We could all use a bit more Vitamin D and non-air-conditioned oxygen in our lives. Rather than inhale some Mickey D's or last night's takeout with the ambient glow of a computer screen in the background during your lunch break, you should probably get some fresh air and some natural sunlight. Picnic it up for once in your working life.
It's International Picnic Day on Wednesday. To celebrate the alfresco-dining holiday, Cadence is hosting an outdoor lunch soiree at Peter Feldman Park in Flagler Village. From 11:30 to 2 p.m., the folks at the planning and design firm will be packing up their blankets and picnic baskets and heading to the park. While Cadence is urging any and all cubicle dwellers to find the nearest patch of grass for the holiday, the firm is also inviting people to join in on the party. So pack your lunch, your blanket, maybe even a bottle of wine, and take your lunch break to the great outdoors. For those looking to let someone else do the cooking, Frankie Dogs Gourmet Veggie Dogs will be onsite, with several picnic-appropriate options.
Peter Feldman Park is located at 310 NE Sixth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Visit cadence-living.com.
