A funny thing happened shortly after the turn of the millennium Boston sports teams suddenly stopped sucking. First came the New England Patriots, who won their first of their three Super Bowls in 2002. Then those perennial heartbreakers, the Red Sox, finally won a World Series in the modern age of baseball, and even capped off the 2004 championship with another in 2007. Finally, the Celtics won the NBA title in 2008, ending a 22-year dry spell. (Well just pretend the Bruins dont exist for the moment.) Along the way, all those annoying fans wearing NY caps were suddenly replaced by annoying fans wearing caps with a fancy serif B on them.
You can expect to see a lot of those wicked obnoxious Massholes this Sunday when Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace and the rest of the Boston Celtics make the first of their two visits to American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) to take on your Miami Heat. Tip-off is 6 p.m. Tickets start at $10. And dont fret, Beantown fans if you miss this one, your next chance will be January 6. Visit ticketmaster.com.
