For more than a decade, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone has been cranking out a unique style of lo-fi synthpop that sprouted forth from a childhood fueled by the Smiths, New Order, and the Cure. CFTPA evokes a sound that was cutting-edge 25 years ago in a land of four-tracks and tape decks. The music, created entirely on cheap battery-powered keyboards and looped electronics, is an exploration inside the sometimes heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking thoughts of the single band member, Owen Ashworth. Ashworth constantly invites comparison to Morrissey with his poignant lyrics that connect with the post-college, lost-in-the-real-world crowd. Opening for CFTPA are South Floridas own zombie-themed, synth-crunk, anti-corporate, hip-hop trio Zombies! Organize!! and West Palm duet Wendy and Grant. Find Propaganda at 6 S. J St. in Lake Worth. Tickets cost $5, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Call 561-547-7273, or visit propagandalw.com.
