The Painted Old Guitarist
If you're interested in Pablo Picasso's works, then join the Norton Museum of Art for a discussion of Picasso's Tête de Femme (Head of a Woman) on Thursday. The genius of Picasso will be unraveled and discussed as part of the museum's Art After Dark weekly event series and will be celebrated as its masterpiece of the month. The history of the infamous 1952 work will be accompanied with a winetasting and a flamenco guitarist. Expand your palate by exploring Italian and Spanish wines, and enjoy guitarist Bob Folse's Spanish melodies and the Los Gitanos Del Fuego Band's music and flamenco dancing. Picasso's masterpiece is honored in conjunction with the museum's summer exhibition "Wheels and Heels: The Big Noise Around Little Toys," a broad, playful look at the enduring influence of the Barbie doll and the Matchbox car. The Norton Museum of Art is internationally known for its permanent collection featuring American art, Chinese art, contemporary art, European art, and photography.
Two talks about Picasso's Tête de Femme will be held inside the McGraw Gallery, at 6:30 and at 7:15 p.m. There will be refreshments and snacks available for purchase inside the atrium theater, or you can take advantage of the museum's restaurant, Fratelli Lyon, and its à la carte dinner menu from 5 to 8:30 p.m. For reservations, call 561-832-5196, ext. 1123, or email email@example.com.
The Norton is located at 1451 S. Olive Ave. in West Palm Beach. General admission is $12 for adults and $5 for students with a valid ID. Admission into the museum is free for Florida residents from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is also free for the Art After Dark event. Call 561-832-5196, or visit norton.org.
