Train in Vein

There are two types of people in the world: Those who enjoy Wes Anderson films, and those without taste. OK, we’re kidding! In actuality, fans of Anderson’s quirky, vintage style seem to be growing fewer in number with each subsequent release. While Rushmore and the Royal Tenenbaums were well received critically, the Life Aquatic had folks screaming that the auteur had lost his touch, becoming far too self-indulgent and derivative. Whatever, man. You can’t please everyone. Still, Anderson’s newest film, The Darjeeling Limited, does smack of his previous work in that (a) it’s about estranged family, in this case three brothers (Adrian Brody, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson) on a trip through India; (b) it’s set within a charming, doll-house like train where youthful imagination supplants reason; and (c) the film’s emotional bandwidth is contained within a soundtrack of vintage ΄70s anti-hits. If those Anderson-esque hallmarks still delight you, then hop a train to India when The Darjeeling Limited opens at Sunrise Cinemas Gateway (1820 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) and Sunrise 11 (4321 NW 88 Ave., Sunrise) this Friday. Tickets start at $6.50. Visit
