Turn Up Your Speakers

Turn Up Your Speakers How many times have you been seduced by James Lipton's voice into wasting away an afternoon watching Inside the Actor's Studio? If you love the informal theater environment while learning how someone far more famous than you likes their eggs, then you must check out the Fort Lauderdale Speakers Series. The series of seven live lectures gives the audiences exclusive looks into the experiences, opinions, and stories of those gracing the stage. Next up in the big chair is Soledad O'Brien. The celebrity anchor and documentarian has seen her fair share of this crazy world and is bringing her tales to Fort Lauderdale to share with a lucky few. The fifth of six children born to a black Cuban mother and an Australian father of Irish descent, O'Brien has a bevy of multicultural knowledge to share. She will be revealing behind-the-scenes stories and her views on current events. But the best part might be the Q&A. Audience members will be able to ask burning journalistic questions, making us all a part of the show. The "Fort Lauderdale Speaker Series: Soledad O'Brien" is Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets to individual speakers are not available; attendees must purchase subscriptions. Call 954-462-0222, or visit fortlauderdalespeakerseries.com.
