Turning up the Heat
Right about now, most of the country is getting some relief from the intense heat of August. With the passing of Labor Day comes a nice refreshing plunge into fall. Not down here; we still have two more months of sweaty T-shirts, frizzy hair, afternoon rains, and the heavy humidity of the South Florida wet season. It's hotter than hell, but here's your chance to get a steamy firefighter to cool you down. On Monday night, Glam-a-Thon is teaming up with Grille 401 and some sizzling firefighters to raise money for local women fighting breast cancer. Taking place from 6 to 8 p.m., the event features a special Grille 401 spread of light bites, plenty of wine, and, of course, three of our favorite men in uniform in the flesh from the South Florida Firefighter Calendar. The first 25 guests to purchase tickets get a free calendar. The $50 ticket price benefits Broward Health Foundation, the fundraising portion of Broward Health. The foundation assists uninsured and underinsured women in receiving early diagnostic testing and mammograms while helping women who are battling breast cancer with rides to and from treatment, medibras after surgery, and financial aide. Time to glam it up with your fiercest dress and fancy stilettos, claim your firefighter, and combat some cancer. Grille 401 is located at 401 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
