Two Steps Forward
The alarm didn't sound. You're late for work. And now you have a flat tire. Bad day, huh? Well, your worst day is probably a good day for families who have a child or parent living with a serious illness. But their days are about to become a bit brighter, thanks to Deliver the Dream, a not-for-profit program that provides three-day retreats for families by enhancing coping skills through activities, therapeutic workshops, and peer-to-peer discussion groups. You can help too. On Saturday, Generation Dream, Deliver the Dream's young professionals group, will host the second-annual three-mile walk/run Footsteps for Families in Fort Lauderdale in an effort to raise $25,000, the cost to host one retreat for eight to 15 families.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Stranahan House on 335 SE Sixth Ave., with the race beginning at 10 a.m. Don't miss the afterparty, with food and entertainment. The cost to participate is $35 per person and $10 for age 10 and under. Call 954-564-3512, or visit deliverthedream.org.
Sat., Nov. 3, 9 a.m., 2012
