Veins Not Brains
Although the name of the band might sound oddly familiar, we promise there is no relation to reggae punk pioneers Bad Brains. The indie-rock duo of Benjamin Davis and Sebastian Schultz is anything but a tribute act. Hailing from Cincinnati, Bad Veins has the requisite shaggy-hair look, but its sound is a helluva lot more experimental. With the use of megaphones and a reel-to-reel, the band has a way of mixing dancey beats with catchy lyrics, like on its newest hit, “Dancing on TV.” Following the debut full-length release in 2009, the band made some serious headway with the track “Gold and Warm” after the song appeared on the soundtrack for the film Chronicle.
Currently on tour in support of the band’s sophomore album, The Mess We’ve Made, Bad Veins will take to the Revolution stage at 8 p.m. to open for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and the Two Door Cinema Club. Revolution Live is located at 100 SW Third Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $22.50 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com or at the door. Call 954-449-1025, or visit jointherevolution.net.
