Today, the 7th annual Perrier French Film Festival descends on Fort Lauderdale, kicking off with two of France’s top exports: Comedies. Pop into Cinema Paradiso (503 SE 6th St., Fort Lauderdale) at 6 p.m. for the fest’s first showing, Deux Vies Plus Une (Two Lives Plus One), a romantic comedy about an unsatisfied career woman who takes a plunge into pursuing her dream of writing. If romcoms aren’t your bag, then skip Deux in favor of the 6:30 opening night soiree, where you can hobnob with other French fanatics while filling up on wine and cheese (of course). Stick around until 7:30 p.m. for the opening feature, Les Randonneurs a Saint Tropez (Hikers in Saint Tropez), the sequel to the 1997 hit comedy Les Randonneurs. In part deux, three friends embark on a transcendental vacation 10-years after their first attempt to rediscover themselves. Think of it as France’s version of City Slickers, only instead of the dusty American West they’re schlepping around idyllic Corsica. Tickets to the films cost $9; $25 gets you into the Soiree as well. Call 954-525-3456, or visit www.fliff.com.
