Walk the Line
The newest exhibition at Girls' Club is all about lines: straight ones, curvy ones, squiggly ones, colorful ones, elaborate ones, simple ones. Some create abstract arrangements, and others build recognizable shapes, sizes, and phantasmagoric visions. All form the basis of "Following the Line," a show intended to advance audiences' understanding of line drawing in contemporary art, from its early incarnations through its incorporation in digital media. Artists of local, national, and classical renown will be exhibited. As Dennis Miller might quip: You haven't seen this many lines produced in one room since Tony Montana had a housewarming party. The show's opening reception is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the gallery, located at 117 NE Second St. in Fort Lauderdale. Regular hours are Wednesday to Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and the show runs all the way through September of next year. Admission is free. Call 954-828-9151, or visit girlsclubcollection.org.
