SAT 9/20

Saturday night's all right for fighting, and this Saturday certainly is no exception, as IPW Hardcore Wrestling and NWA Florida present Last Man Standing at Davie Junction (6311 Orange Dr., Davie). The main event is a six-man elimination match featuring David Babylon, Rod Steel, Justice, Mikey Tenderfoot, Johnny Vandal, and Jerelle Clark all squaring off to see who'll emerge King of the Ring. But that's not all. Another highlight of the evening is the Battle of the Giants, which pits two behemoths, 375-pound Mideon against the 360-pound Punisher (with Abudadein). "I can't remember the last time two guys that size were involved in an indie match," IPW owner Ron Niemi says. Also, the Shane Brothers (whom you may have seen in a Sonny's BBQ commercial) defend their Florida Unified Tag Team Titles in an open challenge match. Perhaps the most brutal of the matches is the South Florida Street Fight, featuring Suicidal Tendencies versus the "Original Gangsta" New Jack and Chaos. Like any good street fight, there'll be weapons galore: cheese graters, garbage cans, pizza cutters, chairs covered in glass, and barbed wire, to name a few. Other events include: NWA Florida Tag Team Champions the Vandals versus the Double Deuce; Antonio Banks versus "The Blackheart" Dave Johnson in the Respect Match; Danny Doring versus Agent Steele in the Number-One Contenders Match; and an opening match featuring Comic Book Guy Anderson versus Pretty Fly. Florida Unified Champion Billy Fives also makes a special guest appearance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 to $12. Call 954-581-1132, or visit -- Jason Budjinski

Golfers heed the call of Keller

Break out the golf clubs, because it's time for another installment of the Keller Williams Amateur Golf Tour. This time, the tour stops at Mizner Trail Golf Club (22689 Camino del Mar, Boca Raton) on Saturday. Tour members accumulate points each week based on place of finish, with the leaders at the end of the season moving on to the tour championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this fall. Golfers compete in one of four skill-specific divisions ranging from championship 0-5 handicappers through C-level 16-20 handicappers. The top three finishers per division each week receive merchandise and gift certificates. Closest-to-the-pin and long-drive contests are also included.

The Dolphin Report

The home team's got something to prove

A glorious first half of the season gives way to a troubled second half, and the team implodes in the opening rounds of the playoffs. This seems to be the broken record that is the Miami Dolphins. This season may be different, but not necessarily in a good way.

After an embarrassing loss to the Houston Texans in the season opener, the Dolphins beat the N.Y. Jets 21-10 Sunday at Giants Stadium after a five-year losing streak there. Sunday, they return to Pro Player Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami) at 8:30 p.m. to take on the Buffalo Bills. For their part, the Bills opened the season with a memorable 31-0 shutout of the New England Patriots, then followed that with a solid 38-17 victory over Jacksonville. Tickets cost $22 to $175. Take a Hike

If you've ever been told to take a hike and it was followed by an open-handed slap in the face or a knee to the groin, you're in the wrong place, buddy. But if you're thinking hikes of the nature variety, then you're in the right place. West Lake Park (751 Sheridan St., Hollywood) offers an hourlong stroll around Tarpon Lake at 10 a.m. Sunday. Explore the park, the lake, the nature, the agony, and the ecstasy. Walk off a hangover, bring the whole family, enjoy a moment of Zen, or all of the above. Fee is $2 per person, and children 5 and younger are admitted free. Call 954-926-2480. -- Audra Schroeder
