What Would a Buddhist Nun Do?
Imagine leaving your home (let's say England) for a life in India at age 20, making a vow to attain enlightenment "in the female form -- no matter how many lifetimes it takes." You just imagined you were Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, who is one of the only Western women to be ordained a Tibetan Budd-hist Nun.
That path took her to a cave, where she lived in solitude for 12 years -- and prompted Palmo to open a nunnery for young Buddhist girls. She is a highly sought-after woman who rarely makes public appearances, but Florida Atlantic University's Boca Raton campus managed to snag Palmo for a speaking engagement Saturday for its Peaceful Mind/Peaceful World lecture series. During her lecture, Palmo is expected to offer down-to-earth advice on living peacefully in a stressful world.
