What You Can Learn From Two Men Brutalizing Each Other in Tights
No telling how it happened, but in the past decade, pro wrestling has become a suitable subject for serious art. Four years ago, The Wrestler almost nabbed an Academy Award for Best Picture; last year, the altogether more fun The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity -- which examines America's role in global geopolitics through the lens of a polyglot professional wrestling league -- nearly walked away with a Pulitzer Prize for drama. The Elaborate Entrance, written by Kristoffer Diaz, runs at Caldwell Theatre (7901 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton) through February 12 and features the unutterably awesome Brandon Morris, one of the great chameleons of the Florida stage. Unless Caldwell flubs it badly -- which it almost never does -- The Elaborate Entrance will be full of spectacle and smarts, hilarity and wisdom, and oughtn't under any circumstances be missed. Tickets cost $10 to $50, and you can get 'em at caldwelltheatre.com.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 8. Continues through Feb. 12, 2012
