Although October may usher in the horrors and haunts of Halloween, what lies ahead is far more bloodcurdling. Yes, the holidays are just two months away. Lucky for you, there's an opportunity to ditch the annual gift-card exchange and find some one-of-a-kind gifts at Sunday's Indie Craft Bazaar: Paranormal Craftivity edition in Fort Lauderdale. From noon to 5 p.m., more than 60 crafters will hock their handmade and retro wares. Expect a sprinkling of creepy and an overload of cute.
This year's market puts the "craft" in witchcraft with the theme Paranormal Craftivity. You can trick-or-treat at participating vendors' tables, don a costume in the "photo BOOth," or hit up the fortuneteller (who sees a vegan cupcake in your future). And because nothing says "Halloween" like disemboweled bloodsuckers and the oozing undead, you can craft your own zombie slime and vampire guts for free at a DIY booth while sipping $5 "Very Bloody Marys." The less-sanguine (but very popular) $3 mimosas will also be for sale. There will also be a full cash bar, lunch items, and baked goods.
Admission costs $5 and includes entry into an hourly raffle, parking, and a performance by Wynwood duo the Bows and Ties. But get there early -- the first 100 guests get swag bags, and parking will fill up. A portion of the proceeds will benefit downtown's Flagler Garden. The Indie Craft Bazaar: Paranormal Craftivity edition runs from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Revolution Live, 100 SW Third Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-785-7475, or visit getupandcraft.com.
