Wine geeks claim the nectar of the gods is representative of the human condition. A little too much rain and you're left with rot; too much sun, on the other hand, and you're stuck with a burnt, dried-up raisin; it's all about finding the right balance between planting the right vine in the right place. (And you know you've run into some people who fit those descriptions.) Much like with human beings, it's a combination of varietal, climate, and external environmental factors that change the final product in the world of wine. It's deep. Rather than ponder the intricacies of life and the vine on your next solo wine party, you could always chat with a winemaker to explore the meaning -- or the best pairing option. Either way, your chance is here on Saturday night at Ocean 2000. Winemaker Andrew Vingiello of A.P. Vin will be in the flesh talking to guests about the winemaking process starting at 7 p.m. Vingiello will make one-on-one table visits to discuss his creations. The evening includes five courses, each paired with special A.P. Pinot Noirs. The cost to attend is $80 per person. Ocean 2000 is located at 2000 N. Ocean Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
